For decades Africa has struggled to be self-sufficient all these efforts were abortive because failed leadership has placed stagnancy and unproductivity across all the sectors which makes it practically impossible to advance to the next level. The problem is simply failed leadership, the calibre of leaders Africa has been harbouring are unable to take the continent to the dream land where they have envisaged. The rate of unemployment keeps soaring high, the government before election will promise millions of jobs, when they are elected into the office, they will have no development to boost of us, rather they will be dragging the continent into mud, and the whole situation keep deteriorating.
The wave of drought in East Africa has become a disturbing problem, millions of people in many countries are affected posing the risk of severe food shortages. Over the time African leaders have failed and run out of creativity in approaching the domestic problems, every moment in Africa feels like it is a war time, the government keep posing threats to the citizens in any way they can, making them vulnerable economically in any way they can. The leaders lack the foresight to foresee the problems and provide long lasting solution to it, technical approach to issues is not there, in Kenya there have been massive death of wildlife due to the drought, and records say that if the drought continue more wildlife deaths will be experienced, this is how fragile the ecosystem has become.
The situation becomes irrelevant to the leaders once they are not directly affected, if the masses are the ones in severe condition, they will pay no listening ears to it. A fourth season of drought is causing havoc in East Africa, this is one of the worsts failed rains they have seen for decades. The austere situation leaves the population with desperateness for food and water, millions of children are malnourished, the soil is dry and livestock, as reliance for food and living have died. According to United Nation’s World Food Programme, up to 20 million people in East Africa are at risk of severe hunger, Ethiopia is battling the worst drought in nearly half a century and in Somalia 40% of the population are at risk of starvation, the country will be positive whether the new government will mitigate and find solution for the drought which is one of the myriads of their problems.
United Nation’s humanitarian chief, Martin Griffiths has expressed grief with the situation in Horn of Africa, precisely Kenya as a case study, he also stressed that situation in East Africa is terribly woeful and no compelling efforts are made to abate the situation due to the world channel its focus on Ukraine “I want to try hard to get the world to pay attention to the situation here” he says, regarding to his visit to drought affected northern Kenya, he further expressed “the world’s attention is wholly focused on Ukraine, which is a terrible crisis, and I have been to both places[Ukraine and East Africa], but the suffering I’ve seen here has no equal” he concluded.

He asked his Twitter followers “stay in Nigeria or move abroad?” this is the level of dilapidated state of the country, while reality TV star Erica Nlewedim advised that “Nigeria is not worth dying over… let another country be your plan B”. Insecurity and violence have become the order of day in Nigeria.
