Why Nigeria Government Have To Abolish SARS

SARS is a special police unit in Nigeria which focused on intelligent information and special squad against robbery. Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) was created in late 1992 headed by Deputy Inspector General of Police. They have been getting a backlash for their operation recently, the End SARS campaign started early as 2017.

This unit have neglected the most important aspect of their jobs and go hard on innocent citizens, claiming lives of many people, unlawfully killed. Everyone has the right for privacy, when you invade one’s privacy without backing of the law, you’re totally getting it wrong.

SARS has been marred with extrajudicial killings, youths recording the highest number of mortality, SARS operation has been operating like they have entity of their own, carrying guns in day time to harass citizens.

The operation have been unbearable, Nigeria in chaos as the End SARS protesters rock the major cities of the country to demonstrate their dissatisfaction against SARS and immediate end to SARS operation.

This is a turbulent time for the country, which posed a big threat to president Muhammadu Buhari presidency and his incapacitation to address the major clamouring of the citizens, Nigeria need answers to the ongoing questions.

Although some parts of the country have refused to join the protests, showing support for SARS which creates more dynamic views for the government of Nigeria to address, it has not been going well with celebrities and government officials, as they share different views on the ongoing protests, citing coronavirus rules.

Citizens have show no back down, protests keep igniting every single day, more cities shown concern about End SARS campaign, which is facing the country. This protest has exposed this government to the problems they failed to solve.

Citizens never shown any sign of slowing down, whether coronavirus pandemic rules or not, they are determined to change the society with End SARS campaign, the country has held elections where citizens broke Covid-19 rules, and government didn’t take any actions.

Restructuring the police will give the protesters a certain relief, changing the names didn’t show that any drastic measures have been taken, it is all about recycling the same people by changing their names.

The ongoing ASUU strike in Nigeria has taken students to the streets to protest. It is unbecoming and very pathetic that any country still go any kind of strikes at this time and age, over the years it has been recycling the same corrupt politicians who have no intention of taking the country forward.

Regional policing might be long awaited answers to the issue of SARS and insecurity. They need people who are familiar with the locality, who understand how people live within their domain and be able to detect crimes.
