The Renaissance Of Angry Young Voters In Nigeria

The outcome of the General Elections were big statement from angry young voters who are determined to change the status quo which the youths have been the victim of, arising from massive public looting, unemployment, security agency harassment and making policies detriment to the Nigerian people. The renaissance started from the comment that “Nigeria youths are lazy” by the incumbent president, Muhammadu Buhari. It sinks deep into the ears of many Nigeria youths who felt like it was an insult and direct attack from the president, the rebellion began to grow and metamorphose into a movement, when Mr. Peter Obi joined Labour Party, which aligned with their project of better Nigeria.

Nigeria is the largest democracy in Africa, for the first time, they have depicted but still alleged irregularities in the outcome of Presidential elections, which is now subject to the judicial decision at the conclusion of the process. Angry young voters have been making known to everyone that Peter Obi of Labour Party won the elections which they alleged were rigged in the favour of Bola Tinubu of All Progressives Congress. This is borne out of leading the struggle for better Nigeria, since Nigeria independence there have been instabilities generally in the whole sectors, it has failed to grow, while emerging young generations are fed up with whole system watching their counterparts in other countries striving in an enabling environment, their case was feeding from hand to mouth.

The renaissance of angry young voters breeds from Endsars protest which was the oasis through which struggle for better Nigeria spreads across. It was an eventful day in Nigeria history, up till today Nigeria youths are seeking for the names of the people who ordered the shootings at the Lekki toll gate, yet no answer, they vowed to let their grievances known in the concluded generations, while they were able to cause major uproar in the political history of Nigeria, in terms of ending the long age tradition of election contest down to two major political parties, it has been replaced with competence and character.
