Africa has struggled to match their European and American counterparts in providing sustainable leadership in Africa. This has been major trend in Africa, the system keeps getting worse and the leaders lack any clue on how to push the continent out of that aura, since any development has been hampered by chronic corruption widespread in political activities in the continent any fight against corruption seem to very unyielding and infertile, it reached a point where you can’t separate it from political settings in Africa, and it has become a huge stigma.
It has become a constant and growing concern in Africa and the populace are determined to fight and end it, even when the stake is very high. This is evidenced in infamous ENDSARS protests in Nigeria, which was the outcome of Lekki Toll gate massacre which see scores of lifeless bodies lying in the most populous city in Africa, Lagos. Protests that were originally structured against SARS in the country, but later metamorphose into protests expressing bad leadership in the country, the first time since the country’s fourth republic, such crowd assembled to show great concern about the running of the government which was in total meltdown, nothing seems to be surviving, this exposed the problem of leadership in Africa.
The issue in Ethiopia is degradation of humanity, human beings have been reduced to nothing, the fight between Tigray and Ethiopia has pushed many people out of their homes characterized by fear for safety, escalated by internal egos and lack of proper dialogue and leadership skill in savaging any chance of war, Ethiopia has set itself on fire. Africa talking about coup d’ etat in this time shows the primitive approach the continent has adopted in providing solutions. Time where technology and human advancement in all areas were major trend, Africa is left behind.
It has become obligatory for people they are championing good government and chance for youth to make input in the government, Africa has gradually moving away from the time where citizens don’t care about political life of their country, they now pay active attention to the happenings have strong opinions on matters that largely affect the populace. To start a new phase Africa needs to strive on sustainable leadership, it is going to unlock and give new look to already shambolic system. Sustainable leadership in Africa, will serve as a recipe for younger generation and the something the continent will build on.
