The issue of race has become a thorn on a flesh, and another pandemic which everyone has neglected for many years, until the fierce ordeal of George Floyd, which led to his death, police brutality against black people, cops have become the modern day lynchers, the subjugation of black people in white countries, unequal privilege and racial inequality.
The death of George Floyd has showed a gigantic efforts and big step up for people who believed in just and fight to eliminate racial inequality, similar ordeals might have been happening, but when it is time everyone will use most available tools to fight, whether your position, social class or your status in the world, it is pathetic we still talk about these things, it shows we haven’t moved on.
The world is watching, you can’t hide the insufferable state of black people in white man’s land, how can you be able to explain this to younger people, that the society they live in didn’t accept them because of their colour, but now it doesn’t matter what they think, this is time to prove them wrong.
Love is weak and strong, the wounds of racial inequality is still bleeding, but at the touch of love everyone becomes a poet. Love could play a major role in healing the wounds of society of oppression, to achieve this, it is going to be a long term efforts and willingness to live together.
White kids and black kids have this borderline between them, it unusual for them to date, either of the families will oppose the relationship, due to the issue of race, as they say, children go out with people who like their father, they have become the victims of their own circumstance.
Now people are proudly coming out as biracial, having white and black background, which makes it easy to assimilate the two cultures and embrace it, when true love exists, it doesn’t care about whether you’re black or white, it will strive regardless.
People who are biracial can use the privilege to educate their two backgrounds, despite the complexity they can show positivity and be a light over this gigantic darkness of race, so that people can fall in love without being scared of colour of your lover.
There is always this barrier in anything you want to do in life; the nature of it, mistakes committed when you weren’t born, giving you all the flimsy alibi why you shouldn’t be where you wanted to be, and why you shouldn’t do things your own way, who then says what is right and wrong?
Love is born out of selflessness, regardless of the circumstances you are in, if you are determined to love, nothing can stop you. You are bombarded with people detecting your life for you, why you should not marry white girls or black girls, it is within you to break that circle, you choose whoever you want to be happy with.
Racial inequality deserves no place in our community, people should be proud of their origin, it is their heritage, no one has the monopoly of power on the issue of race, rather the atmosphere where everyone will be able to express themselves without fear.
