Why Child Marriage Should Be Criminalize In Nigeria

It is saddening with a heavy heart that children are subjected to marriage, there by ending any dreams and aspirations they have nurtured while growing up.

There have been campaigns in support of girl child education and for them to have wider views of the society they live in especially in Nigeria, and Africa in a larger sense.

This is something that need to be looked in properly for advancement of a worthwhile society, psychologically this is a modern slavery, mere technicality of the Constitution should not defeat the rudiments aspect of one’s life. Under Child’s Right Act a child means a person who is under the age of 18 years.

How can you advance a society that the future is caged strategically, child marriage is contrary to what the society upholds, it is repugnant, inconsistent and against public policy, it should be criminalize and be treated with all seriousness.

How can you talk about future in such society, this requires an immediate attention to the contents of the Constitution, where what should be important aspect of the Constitution is omitted.

Law is dynamic, that it changes with time; it is organic, that it grows. A society that demands a lot for established human entity, such repugnance should be abolished to advance certain areas which have been neglected

Whether it is a culture, it is against good conscience. Subjecting a person who is not fully integrated into the society, and did not fully understand the whole outcome to a marriage, need an alertness and the only way that should be available is by the provisions of the Constitution, clearly stipulated.

This is a long time inhumanity, it is denying and sitting on a justice especially when it is inconvenient to you. Justice should prevail regardless of the obstacles, for advancement of the dream society.

Child marriage put the person in an unprepared experience, the ability to go into marriage shouldn’t be an avenue to harbour uncultured behaviour, age plays a crucial role in determined the institution of marriage whether traditional or under law.

The harshness the child pass through in child marriage is a venom to be spilled out, denying them the proper stage of human development, they can’t express themselves because they under control. What else is more inhumane than that.
