What Halloween Could Mean For Children This Year

Halloween is that time of the year where kids enjoy special threats from adults, through customized costumes, depicting ghost, goblins and disguising as supernatural creatures to collect candy. It invigorates that moment of clarity for children, for them to have fun and enjoy the moments, for kids to be able to move away from the negative atmosphere and integrates themselves into the process of going through the normal life, without being interrupted by unforeseen circumstances. This year’s Halloween will come as an extraordinary relieve for children, they can see through the rest of the year with that lens.

It will be an extraordinary social and emotional interactions, exchange of costumes and gifting other kids costumes for Halloween especially kids who can’t afford it, it brings them through emotional lane, kids who can’t afford costumes don’t have to worry about one, it sparks sense of belongingness, to be able to relate with other kids, and sharing that feeling, is a thing for them. Children who have been displaced by wars will have time out to share the moments, it creates that ambience where they can reintegrate and serve every purpose of their process of development.

It builds self-esteem dressing up in various costumes give that sense of a superhuman, children invest and bank on it. It helps through that developmental process they get to see live through that and appreciate the moment. Halloween will come as a time for children to boost their ego in a positive way and use it throughout the rest of the year, and could be starting point for them to grow through. This mean more for children than star-studded ceremony where celebrities, with costumes surrounded by photographers trying to catch different angles, for children it is an experience that forms part of their lives.

Parents and adults can only complement the moment for kids, by helping to choose the desired costumes for the children and help them made purchase beforehand. It is this time where conversations for costumes continue to dominate the circle, having conversations for colours and designs, and plans to shut down candy store. It is going to be thought provoking moment for children, knowing that they are privileged to celebrate Halloween with friends and family, knowing that other kids who have been denied such opportunity due to the circumstances of war and other unforeseen circumstances, on the Halloween’s night they will go to sleep as fulfilled children with prospects and aspirations.
