Why Changing The Name Is Immaterial?

Nigerian have been calling for constitutional review to add or remove the part of the statutes that are still keeping the country in the dark. There is no doubt the rigidity of the constitution, which will take processes before it could be implemented and enforce.

The atmosphere was quite unstable, when the proposal was made to change the entity ‘Nigeria’ to ‘United African Republic’ with the view to represent myriad ethnic groups in Nigeria. The country is highly diversified in terms of beliefs and other areas of life, where there is dichotomy on important question of life.

The rationale for changing the country’s name, will be for popular representation. Looking at the challenges facing the country, and key areas that need urgent attention, changing the name is immaterial, it is not start of any positive change, it will be just recycling the same problems under the umbrella of new entity. Nigeria’s problem is escalating to highest degree of crimes.

The issue of insecurities, illiteracy and unemployment are in state of emergency in the country. North-east has been turned into Islamic terrorists’ domicile, habitants of the region have been displaced due to the great terror posed by Boko Haram sect, which the security personnel failed woefully in the assignment, banditry is the topic every day, society is fasting integrating into anarchy.

 Not all the citizens have asses to education, an average will find it hard to attain minimum, education qualifications, it is concrete issue to address without giving relevance to change of entity, education should be made available to the citizens, with that the nation can advance to better the country and future generation.

Unemployment is the root course of the problem, Nigeria is facing today, they have been drawn into ocean of poverty and encouraging them to do anything to earn a living. Terrorism, fraud, banditry and kidnapping are inspired by unemployment, citizens are not asking for much, just an enabling environment so that they can strive and earn a living, the review should be for better approach to the problems not just a mere stunt.
