Tigray has been in rage of war nearly one year, and the mayhem continue to escalate as the day goes by. Involving Ethiopian federal government and Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF). This is serious conquest on who takes over the north Ethiopian state.

Tigray is bordered in the northern region of Ethiopia, homeland to Tigrayan, Irob and Kunama peoples, with Mekelle as its capital. These people are also known for their agricultural prowess.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, has expressed strong desire to dismantle T.P.L.F, of northern region, he had ordered offensive against the government of Tigray region, hoping that in matter of weeks the flight would be over, the reverse is just the case, because with the way things are poised with Ethiopian federal government and Tigray region, it might be beginning of havoc of a modern time, which will eventually change the face of Ethiopia. T.P.L.F, a political group who had dominated Ethiopia for nearly three decades.

In September, last year Tigrayan boycott Prime Minister by going ahead with regional parliamentary elections which had been put on hold across the country prior to the effect of coronavirus pandemic. The country’s lawmakers in retaliating response cut funding of the region. At that point internet communications were restricted in Ethiopia, and six-month state of emergency in Tigray. Mr. Abiy never ceased in deploying military in nook and cranny of Tigray.

The heydays of T.P.L.F, under the leadership of Meles Zenawi from 1991 until his death in 2012. It was a time of normalcy in the region in terms of economic growth despite the turbulence. But the government was determined to hunt political opponents, which has similar situation like in the days of military.

Mr. Abiy has already looked set for T.P.L.F which he is determined to crush. Despite the attempt to eliminate them not only in Tigray but also in Ethiopia political system, they still control the region government and thousands of armed men. T.P.L.F has been stripped off the status of a legal party and tagged terrorist organization by the federal government.

Tigray has been so fierce and what look like dividing Ethiopia, even potential fear of crisis erupting from different parts of the country. The majority of Tigray’s population, a number of more than 5 million people need assistance, ascertained by United Nations. And Integrated Phase Classification (IPC), said that 400,000 people in Tigray were experiencing catastrophic levels of hunger.

Ethiopia is heading towards a dangerous situation, unless state of certainty is restored, they will starve and the effect of what comes with the war will leave them in permanent mayhem.
