He entered into the restaurant and people turned to catch a glimpse. They were astounded too, Maya and Ivy.
“Sure he is not from this planet” Ivy said taking a sip from her drink.
“He is the perfect description of what I want” Maya said smiling slyly.
“Sis, you will never change”, Ivy said laughing.
He seemed to be in a hurry because he left the restaurant immediately he received his orders.
“Has Lionel called you?,” Maya asked.
“Sis, you must be kidding, Lionel said he is not interested anymore, I thought he was joking though but It’s fine, I am stronger now” Ivy said as tears filled her eyes.
“I love the spirit Sis, You will get a better person Maya said holding her sister’s hand.
“Thanks love”, Ivy said smiling.
Maya glanced at her watch.
“Ivy, we are few minutes late!, she said, standing up.
They quickly cleared their bills and left the eatery.
“Hello!, Someone called from behind. The two sisters turned to behold the handsome gentleman they met an hour ago in the restaurant.
“Hi, Maya answered waving her hand.
“I’m sorry to interrupt, pretty ladies, seems you are in a hurry”, he asked extending his hands to greet Maya and Ivy.
“Not at all, Maya answered.
“Alright, please can I have a word with you”, he asked directing his gaze at Ivy.
“Me?, Ivy asked, wondering if he is not the same person hurrying out of the eatery few minutes ago.
“Yes, he answered smiling.
Ivy moved closer to him while Maya stood aside.
“I’m Ferdinand, I actually saw you when I entered to get something in there, he said.
Ivy noticed he was trembling, but he maintained a nice eyes contact.
“Please, what’s your name? he asked.
“I’m Ivy, she answered wondering what next he will do.
“What a beautiful name” he said.
“Thank you, Ivy said.
“Pretty Ivy, I can see you are in a hurry, please can I have your number? he asked, extending his phone to Ivy.
“Don’t worry, Ivy said. She brought out a card from her bag.
“Here, she said, My card”.
“Thank you Ivy, Ferdinand said smiling.
“It’s fine, she said.
“I guess she is your sister, Ferdinand asked pointing at Maya.
“Yes, Ivy answered. She really want to end the conversation.
“Alright, call her so that I can drop you ladies off, he offered moving to his car.
“Oh, don’t worry Ferdinand, we have an appointment in the next building and we are late, Ivy said, politely declining the offer.
She bid him goodbye and walked up to her sister who was already pacing up and down.
“Ivy, you keep me waiting, seems you forget we are running late already, Maya shouted.
“Sis, can you raise down your voice, it wasn’t my fault, Ivy said but Maya was already at the gate.
“Don’t tell me you are accepting him, Ivy? It’s barely five months Lionel broke up with you.
“I never wanted to, but he won’t give up Maya, Ivy
answered.
“So? Maya asked.
“I am giving him a chance, Ivy said.
“So that he will prove himself to be a playboy just like your dear Lionel, Ivy! , when will you ever learn? Maya asked.
“Maya, I know you want the best for me but I want to give love a chance, Lionel has moved on, so why won’t I? Ivy said.
“Alright Ivy, if you said so, but it hurts to see you cry after each heartbreak Maya said holding her sister.
“Thanks Maya, just wish me well. I always admire your relationship with Damian. I am not always lucky like you in relationship, pray for me Sis that I will find true love like you, Ivy said. Tears was dripping down her cheeks.
“You will be lucky this time Ivy, trust me” Maya said, wiping her sister’s tears.

“Nothing much happened Eric, I really loved Ivy until I discovered she hid some things from me about her past, Lionel said.
“And what could that be, Lionel?, Eric asked bewildered.
“She had multiple abortions and even had a son out of wedlock”, Lionel said gnashing his teeth in anger.
“I don’t understand Lionel, she told you about this?”, Eric asked.
“And that is why I broke up with her, she hid it from me. She never told me until I found out from someone very close to her”, Lionel said.
“Wait man, someone told you your girlfriend had multiple abortions and a son out of wedlock and you believed it without even asking her about it, you must be stupid man”, Eric chided.
“I have a strong reason for doing that Eric, most of the pictures in her phone has that of a little boy who looked just like her and each time I asked her who the boy was, she evade the question. Besides, she always tell me that she has something very important to tell me but only time will tell, I believe it is the abortion thing. He paused then begin, “I was so angry and pained when I heard it all, I did not even bother to call and ask her whether it’s true or not. I broke up with her but I am really regretting my hasty decision Lionel said.
“Lionel, you did not act matured at all, how could you be so careless? How? You shouldn’t act on assumption, this is really bad”, Eric said.
“But she moved on so quickly as if she never wanted us to be together in the first place, the other day I met her at the gym with her new boyfriend and she merely waved at me,” Lionel said.
Eric burst into laughter.
“You sound pained man, this is the same girl you rejected, besides Ivy is a pretty lady with a beautiful heart or did you expect her to continue crying and looking out for you? you really acted like a child Lionel”, Eric said.
“I never acted like a child Eric, I was only being careful with my choice of life partner”, Lionel said.

Lionel looked at his friend but did not speak a word.
“Mother, how is Son? Ivy asked hugging her mother from behind. She had come all the way from the city to pay her a visit in the village.
“Fine my darling,” Olaedo said beaming with smiles. I took him to school few minutes ago, thank your stars that you meet me at home. Come and sit down” she said offering her daughter a seat.
“Mum, don’t worry, I just breeze in to see you. I got this for you and Son”, Ivy she said handing over a big polythene bag to her mother.
“Thank you so much love”, Olaedo said hugging her daughter.
Looking into the bag she exclaimed “Wow, Son will be very happy to receive this”.
“Before I forget Mum, Maya said I should give this to you too”, Ivy said bringing out an envelope from her handbag and handing it over to her mother.
“Send my regards to her, but tell her to come and see me and Son, It is almost three years she visited home and we are missing her a lot especially Son”, Olaedo said.
Ivy burst into laughter.
“Ivy, this is not a laughing matter, talk to your sister”, Olaedo chided.
“I will mother, you know Maya is always busy with work and hardly have chance but one of these days, she will come around”, Ivy said.
“That is what you do all the time, defending your sister”, Olaedo said.
“Mother, she is my only sister and I love her so much”, Ivy said smiling.
“Alright, I give up, see how beautiful you are looking Ivy,” Olaedo said hugging her daughter again.
Ivy was sitting in the living room, working on a file she will be submitting in office the next day when someone knocked on the door. She glanced at the wall clock and it was 8pm.
“Who is there”?, she asked shutting down her laptop.
“It’s me Ivy, It’s Damian”, the person outside replied.
She quickly opened the door to behold her sister’s boyfriend standing in front of her with a worried look.
“Damian, What’s wrong?, what are you doing here? I mean where is my sister? Ivy asked bewildered.
“Ivy, that is exactly why I am here, for the past few weeks Maya has not been picking my calls or replying to my texts, so I came to check up on her Damian said.
“Damian, you must be kidding me because my sister left the house few hours ago to your place”, Ivy replied.
“Are you joking?, he asked surprised.
“No, I am not, Ivy answered. she quickly dialed her sister’s number but she was not picking up.
“Is Maya lying to me?, she had never lied to me before Ivy said.
“Are you sure she is not in trouble?” Damian asked looking worried.
“No Damian, I don’t think so. Calm your nerves. I noticed Maya has been acting strange lately but I can’t place it” Ivy said.
“I think we should report this to the police”, Damian said.
“No Damian, It hasn’t come to that”, Ivy said. She knew her sister has been seeing someone else but she did not want to hurt Damian by telling him. She think of what to do
“Damian, I had a quarrel with Maya this evening, I guess that is why she left the house without telling me where exactly she was going to”, Ivy lied. When she noticed he doesn’t look convinced, he hold him by the shoulder. ” Damian, please go home and relax your mind, you know Maya just like I do, she behaves like this most times but she will definitely come around Ivy assured.
“Anyways, If you say so”, Damian muttered.
“Forgive my manners Damian, do you care for anything”, Ivy asked.
“No, thank you”, Damian said and slowly walk out of the compound.
Ivy felt bad that she had lied to him but that was the only thing she could have done to allay his fears. She dialed Maya’s number again but she did not pick up.
“Maya, where are you coming back from by this time of the night?, Ivy asked her sister immediately she entered into the house.
“And what a beautiful way to welcome your big sister into the house Maya said.
“Maya, why are you treating Damian this way? He came here looking for you visibly worried, Can’t you just tell him you are no more interested in the relationship than making him look like a fool
Ivy said.
“I have told the fool to let me be but he kept crawling back to me. Is it by force?, Maya replied. Please spare me all these gospel of yours, Ivy. I don’t have the strength to talk this night”, she said moving into her room.
“Don’t be heartless Maya”, Ivy shouted after her.
Few hours later, Ivy entered into her sister’s room to make use of her pressing Iron. Maya was fast asleep when she entered but her phone was ringing. She moved closer to switch it off but to her greatest surprise it was her boyfriend’s (Ferdinand) number saved with my “Heartthrob”
Her heart did some skips while her body trembled. She unlocked the phone and begin to go through the chats between her sister and Ferdinand while hot tears stream down her cheeks. She quietly dropped the phone and left the room. In the morning, before Maya could wake up she had prepared for work. She quickly rushed to Ferdinand’s house.
Ferdinand was already preparing for work when she enters.
“Ferdinand, Why? Is this all your promises? How could you? You are cheating on me with my elder sister Maya, what have I ever done to you?, She asked, sobbing and hitting him.
Ferdinand pushed her away.
“Enough of your crocodile tears Ivy, You hid it from me that you had multiple abortions and a bastard son and you wouldn’t even allow me touch you, saint!, he mocked putting on his shoes.
“Ferdinand, I can’t believe you don’t trust me after these years, you chose to listen to haters. Did you ever ask me? she screamed. Tears was running down at every corner of her eyes.
“Why would I when it was your sister who told me about your stupid lies”, he thundered.
“Oh my God,” Ivy muttered and sat on the floor. She was weeping profusely.
“Ferdinand, I never had an abortion and that little boy she told you about was her son whom she abandoned in the village. You never ask for clarifications and you choose to sleep with her you fool!, she shouted.
“Liar!!!, Ferdinand shouted.
“I will never forgive you Ferdinand, I will never forgive you, even when I die my spirit will haunt you for making me go through this pain, both you and Maya” she shouted.
Just then, Maya entered.
“Maya!, Ivy shouted. “You are not just heartless but evil. I loved and respect you as my elder sister but you choose to stab me at the back”.
“And I will stab you to death if I had the opportunity Ivy”, Maya said moving closer to her.
Ferdinand froze.
“How did you feel , Maya asked. I hated you ever since we were born because our parents showered all their love and affection on you. People always admire your beauty while I was never acknowledged. You always capture and captivate young, rich and handsome men but I was always left with the likes of Damian who cannot even cater for me. I slept with your ex- boyfriend multiple times and told the same lies to him. You are so stupid Ivy and I enjoy seeing tears in your beautiful face, unfortunately you even trusted me. Fool!!! she screamed.
Turning to Ferdinand she said.
“And you charlatan, I told you lies about her and you quickly believed because you never loved her. You were only after her body and that is why you accepted immediately I offered mine. You are so shameless Ferdinand and I used it to my advantage. That little boy I told you about is my son, and she never had any abortion, you thought is all about being handsome and rich. No, there is more which made up a responsible man but you lack it all”.
She turned to her sister Ivy.
“Dear Sister, I have not stabbed you enough and if I had the opportunity I will continue stabbing you until you fizzle away, Nonsense!! she said and walked out of the room slamming down the door with such a great force.
Ferdinand moved towards Ivy to help her stand on her feet but she quickly brush off his hands, stood up and quickly left the room too Ignoring his calls. He stood, dejected.
