Mmeso Inspires: The Landlady

When we heard he will be coming to pay his estranged mother a visit,

The much talked son of Jennifer Damon,

Our strict landlady,

A middle aged woman looking like a youngster,

We knew something was up.

Jennifer Damon assigned each of us to a task,

I was to work on the garden,

Sia was to paint the wooden doors and windows,

Angelina was to clean up the stables,

While Damian and Tobias were to do the repairs and plumbing,

Though we were grumbling and mumbling,

We pretended that everything was okay,

Because we can’t afford another increase in the rent.

Related stories:

The task continued,

Work was cancelled for the day,

We expected such, you know…

Living in an apartment where you pays half of what everybody is paying in the city,

Because you have a ‘kind’ landlady,

Which Infact has ulterior motives,

It is clear to us now,

We grudgingly carried on with the work.

And the day finally arrived,

An order was passed again,

We must be present to welcome the Prince,

Prodigal Prince! I growled.

I cancelled my appointment with Dr. Green,

Sia cancelled her date with her new found lover, Nick Benson,

Damian and Tobias forfeit their favourite shows in the town to wait for a fellow man,

The thought of that made me burst into laughter,

Angelina was smart, she pretended to have caught the flu,

I resisted the urge to betray her,

For goodness sake she is lying under the duvet,

While we  tirelessly work for Madam Damon.

Our Mystery gentle man was supposed to arrive in an hour time,

But we waited for hours without any sign of him,

Jennifer Damon turned red,

And she screamed at us.

Though I felt pity for her, you know…

Raising a spoilt dude all alone.

I was very happy.

That serves her right,

She cannot displease us to please herself.

Few minutes to mid night and no sign of him,

And for the first time,

Jennifer Damon broke down in tears,

I prayed that I don’t bear such a son.

And for the first time too,

I felt genuine pity for her.

As we went back to our various flats that night,

We prayed Jennifer Damon will get better,

She never did.
