Mmeso Inspires: No More Playing Small

I wanted to stay in Allu doing the work anyway,

But I remember how I started.

I remember those days in Elle,

The extra work I put in to be more than average,

The pleasures I denied myself to get to the peak,

The perseverance that have kept me going,

The sacrifices and the discipline to stay relevant,

I couldn’t just forget,

I’m tired of playing small.

It takes only “extra” to be extra-ordinary,

I needed to work for the “extra”.

The pain of being stuck in a place,

Where you can control your own world,

The pain of remaining average,

Where you are born to be at the top,

If you fold your hands and allow life to keep pushing you around,

It will decide “Anyplace” for you,

Whereas  you have the ultimate power to decide “Your place”.

Be selfish when it comes to pursuing your goals,

Don’t allow sentiment and emotions stop you from working hard to reach the peak of your dreams,

Don’t listen to naysayers,

Move so far that you can’t hear them,

Refuse to play small,

Because you are destined for bigger things,

You just need to put in the work and things will begin to take a positive turn.

I wanted to stay in Allu doing my humble work,

And hoping that luck will come my way as soon as possible,

Until I began to feel the pain of betrayal,

The pain of self-sabotage,

I was betraying my future self,

I was actually settling for less,

Because I was waiting for magic to happen,

While I could create my own wonderland.

I learnt that you can create your own luck,

And make your magic happen,

And the earlier you start, the faster it will come.
