Marcus Rashford’s Legacy And PM Refusal

The Manchester United forward, Marcus Rashford has earlier expressed his intentions, for UK government to continue the free school meals voucher when they announced their plan not to continue, citing coronavirus pandemic damage.

It is not just about extending the free meals, it is way more than that, this is part of what made Marcus Rashford who he is today. Rashford, when he was young relied on breakfast club for meals, he knew and understood the situation very well, because he had found himself in the same situation at his younger stage.

Rashford have been campaigning over the free school meals voucher, eager to write to PM Boris Johnson to make sure no children go hungry in this period of uncertainties, for Marcus Rashford it is more about giving back his community what they gave to him, it is about who he is and where he came from.

Marcus Rashford campaign for free school meals voucher have attracted critics, saying he should focus on his professional career, which is playing football. Helping people and playing football is two different things, once you’re able to separate the two you have nothing to worry about.

Liverpool’s leftback Andy Robertson has put aside the club rivalries and tipped the youngster to get Anfield ovation, Robertson is not only person from Merseyside to praise Marcus Rashford, Liverpool’s manager Jurgen Kloop also did.

It is unfortunate for Rashford as MPs voted against his proposal. Boris Johnson tried to justify his refusal citing other schemes, the PM said government’s Universal Credit will help and make sure no child will go hungry, will help rising businesses and families.

Manchester United has pledged to distribute 5,000 meals cooked from club kitchen to eligible children, while some restaurants and cafes have joined in the race to distribute free meals to children, to make sure no one goes hungry.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who had not spoke with Manchester United forward, Marcus Rashford has salute his approach, but still hold on his own scheme, a petition created by Rashford has gained more than a million signatures to sustain the free school meals voucher.

Many people want free meal voucher to stay, it means that Prime Minister Boris Johnson has to revisit his decision of scraping free school meals voucher, it would be a disaster for Mr Johnson, possibly causing him his position if his schemes fail to sustain the children.
