Lockdown In Africa: How African Countries Are Responding To The Lockdown

The pandemic which has struck the world on a very bad situation, and yet to find a vaccine or drugs to put an end to the coronavirus ravaging the world, African countries are responding to it, with a different strategies which is best suitable for the masses, but how fruitful is the strategy?

There are so many people who depend on daily earnings to sustain their families, now movement everywhere is completely on restrictions, what could be fate of such people in this lockdown, seeing how it has denied many people the privilege to put food on the table.

If you look at what is happening in African countries, hunger is more talked about, than coronavirus. Staying in doors without anything, what efforts have the government made to sustain poor people who can’t afford the expensive life of lockdown, to get any food stuff in Nigeria is twice the normal prize.

At the beginning of the coronavirus case in Nigeria, individuals donated whopping figures to fund whatever could be the outcome in Nigeria, but it seems like it only made the news and nothing more, other countries are sending relief package to their citizenry, why is it a different ball game in Africa.

African countries should act quick to curb coronavirus, not as it seems like they are waiting for green light to respond to the pandemic, this is the time to bring minds together and make a meaningful plans, on how to respond to the pandemic, it is simply easy, give the masses what they want and stick to their needs.

Economically, the pandemic will definitely have a negative effect to the economy. The number of unemployed people in African countries, is getting worse everyday, to imagine the role of the pandemic. How are these people going to survive, I think if the government do not act quick, it will bring about anarchy in the land, and it will be brute force par excellence.

The whole world is putting armour together, to make sure they put an end to the pandemic, which is a giant obstacle, delaying many things in the world. If this continues to be like this, it will be more harmful than ever, causing more damage, which could take years to rebuild again.

African countries, should show accountability, this is not the time to hide under the shackles of corruption, self-centered and embezzlement of public fund. It is more technical, don’t gamble with people’s lives, show some signs of humanity, this will drive people to recognize government and drive them closer to people.

There is every need to start sharing relief package in all African countries, to be able to reach out to the poor masses, because they could barely feed when things are normal, now compare it with this pandemic period, hunger will have more deaths than coronavirus and the society will be desecrated, if the government failed to do the right thing.
